Man, it feels good to be back at WMU! I spent the past few weeks at home, spending quality time with my family and my friends! I also spent my break working a lot, and it felt good to get caught up on a lot of things that I couldn't do while I was at college. This first week at WMU has been a slow one... bad weather and especially low ceilings have really haunted my return to flying. My plan is to pick back up where we left off and continue to finish the transition course flying the Cirrus SR20. I am getting closer and closer to finishing this course and it is going to feel so good to get back into the swing of things with the instrument course here at WMU! Here at western we are unable to fly into any icing conditions because we do not have any de-icing capabilities on our cirrus aircraft. This can be really difficult when flying in the winter and trying to get actual instrument time, but unfortunately I am not there yet. Flying VFR can be very difficult in the winters in Michigan, since ceilings are usually very low, and when it's not showing or sleeting the ceilings are enough to cancel our flights. I was really hoping to get some time flying over break, but I was unable to do so when I was working so much, and usually when I got out of work it was already dark.
I want to say thank you again to GlobalAir.com for their gracious support of helping me become a professional pilot. As most of you know, flying can be really expensive and can really be a con when deciding this is what you want to do for the rest of your life. When in college, a little bit goes a long way and the support I have gotten from them, will really help me achieve my goals more efficiently. If you are in the market for an aircraft, reach out to GlobalAir.com for the best services out there!
See you all next week!
