Blog #26 - Half way done with the check!

This past week was an exciting week even though it consisted of a lot of studying, lost sleep, and preparation for my lesson 10 stage check. The stage check starts off with a ground portion as well as a look through of the planning for the flight. This portion of the check went very well and I feel as though I was well prepared for all of the questions I was asked and the Cirrus SR20 systems that we are required to know. I was asked to draw out each of the systems including the fuel, electrical, and prop systems, as well as describe how each one of them functions and contributes to the safety of flight. I also was asked to draw out each one of the practice areas that WMU uses, as well as the gates that we use to fly to KBTL. All of this was satisfactory to the check instructor and I was happy to have passed this portion.

During this ground portion we got the message that WMU flight operations was shutting down for the rest of the day due to weather, which I was not surprised about. We continued with the ground portion and we scheduled the flight portion for this week. After one cancellation of the flight due to more weather, we are scheduled to do the flight portion on Thursday of this week. I hope I have good news next week and I can report of a passing grade as well as the start of instrument training.
