Hello! My name is Jaxon Deur and I am from a little town called Fremont in West Michigan. I just turned 19 years old, and I am a sophomore at Western Michigan University studying Flight Science. When I was younger I always had an interest in airplanes, and I would ride my bike 5 miles to my local airport in hopes of seeing a GA aircraft taking off/landing. In my 8th grade year, while learning about flight in science class, I got the opportunity to talk to a local pilot and go on a ride with him. I loved this flight, and although I was still young I knew I would do whatever it took to become a pilot. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to participate in an internship at my local FBO (fixed based operator). During this internship I gained lots of valuable information that I would use in my training, as well as knowledgeable maintenance practices that are always a good resource to have when starting flight training. I started flying during this internship and finished my private pilots license in January of my Freshman year. During this time I learned a plethora of information about turning the hobby of flying into a career, and I started my undergrad at WMU. My freshman year at WMU went by so fast, and although I was not flying yet, I got a lot of my introductory classes and university required classes out of the way. These classes were pretty simple, but I knew that I just had to get them out of the way in order to start my training at WMU. Now, I am in my sophomore year at WMU and I am starting the transition course, as well as the instrument ground course.

If you would like to see one of my training flights from KFFX to KMKG, the video is attached.
