Blog Post #11 - Thanksgiving Week

This past week was very unproductive. Every lesson that we had scheduled was canceled due to a large amount of lake effect snow hitting west Michigan for the better part of a week. Some parts of west Michigan got over a foot of snow in just a few short days which made flying almost impossible. Flight operations at Western Michigan actually ended up closing because of the persistent snow, and due to the Battle Creek Executive airport shutting down all runways at certain points of the week.

This upcoming week is also going to be a slow week in terms of flight operations... as it is Thanksgiving week! Flight operations shut down on Wednesday and are closed through the weekend due to the holiday. With my lessons being on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I am only going to be able to fly once this week. I am really hoping that the weather holds out on Tuesday so I will be able to fly, since it has been a little bit since I have flown last and the weather is starting to get pretty bad. I am looking forward to going home for a few days and getting to spend some time working and with my family. My home airport is Fremont Municipal Airport and it is located about 5 miles away from my house. I am hoping that if the weather holds off, I will be able to get up and go flying while on break. I hope I will have more updated relating to flying in the net few weeks, but you never know with Michigan weather!
