Welcome back! This week I wanted to highlight the highs, and the lows of my first week of flight training at WMU! I started off by meeting with my instructor and getting a feel for how dispatch/ scheduling works when training at WMU.

My second lesson at WMU was my first simulator lesson, and was a great resource to use when learning the systems of the Cirrus SR20. We went through a normal flight out of BTL, and flew to a practice area that is designated for WMU practice flights. The simulators at WMU are accurate, and are an amazing tool, however they are not nearly as cool as the real aircraft! We went through the procedures/ flow checklists on the SR20, as well as practiced western's procedures on leaving/arriving on the rams designated to WMU. My favorite part of this simulator lesson was using the autopilot for the first time. I was shocked at how accurate/ easy this system was to use and I think it is an awesome tool to have when flying the Cirrus SR20!

There is still a lot to learn, and a lot of training in my future, but this first week was such a good start to my training! I have set goals for myself to keep on track, and I am working hard to achieve those set goals. The flight program at WMU is not for the faint at heart, and it takes a lot of courage to complete the program without quitting when the challenges present themselves. I am so grateful for the financial support of Globalair.com and I appreciate everyone else who has supported me throughout my time at WMU!

See you next week!
